{"id":24343,"date":"2020-06-12T10:58:39","date_gmt":"2020-06-12T19:58:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/danbaileyphoto.com\/blog\/?p=24343"},"modified":"2020-06-12T10:58:39","modified_gmt":"2020-06-12T19:58:39","slug":"shooting-for-the-moment-why-you-should-embrace-the-fuji-jpegs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/danbaileyphoto.com\/blog\/shooting-for-the-moment-why-you-should-embrace-the-fuji-jpegs\/","title":{"rendered":"Shooting for the Moment &#8211; Why You Should Embrace the FUJI JPEGS"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"epyt-video-wrapper\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\"  id=\"_ytid_11651\"  width=\"480\" height=\"270\"  data-origwidth=\"480\" data-origheight=\"270\"  data-relstop=\"1\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/BCEUaHLuoEM?enablejsapi=1&#038;autoplay=0&#038;cc_load_policy=0&#038;cc_lang_pref=&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;loop=0&#038;rel=0&#038;fs=1&#038;playsinline=0&#038;autohide=2&#038;theme=dark&#038;color=red&#038;controls=1&#038;\" class=\"__youtube_prefs__  epyt-is-override  no-lazyload\" title=\"YouTube player\"  allow=\"fullscreen; accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen data-no-lazy=\"1\" data-skipgform_ajax_framebjll=\"\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>In my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCMJFgbkSR_jqohmOksHc6Fw\">recent YouTube lesson videos<\/a>, I&#8217;ve been showing you how to use\u00a0the creative tools inside your Fuji camera in order to expand your &#8220;in the moment&#8221;\u00a0creativity when you&#8217;re out shooting.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve\u00a0culminated my ideas about this topic in my\u00a0latest video, called <a class=\"validating\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/BCEUaHLuoEM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SHOOTING FOR THE MOMENT: Why You\u00a0Should\u00a0Embrace the FUJI JPEGS.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Fuji&#8217;s all have great sensors and they do produce wonderful RAW files, but <strong>there&#8217;s a certain magic that you gain when you move away from the\u00a0traditional RAW<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>workflow\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0embrace the creative moment with your photography.<\/p>\n<p>Now, I&#8217;m not saying that you should never shoot RAW, but we&#8217;ve all been indoctrinated by the big names to\u00a0believe that we HAVE to shoot RAW all the time if we\u00a0want to be serious\u00a0photographer and produce good\u00a0quality work.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>However,\u00a0that&#8217;s\u00a0simply not true.\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The color and tonal\u00a0processing technology inside your\u00a0Fuji camera is so good, that <strong>in most\u00a0cases, you&#8217;re not losing\u00a0anything by shooting JPEG<\/strong>, and in\u00a0fact in most\u00a0cases, you gain a huge amount of creative\u00a0liberation, freedom and &#8220;in the moment&#8221; magic\u00a0that&#8217;s lost if you wait to process your images later.<\/p>\n<p>When you shoot JPEG, you&#8217;re not giving up any\u00a0resolution,\u00a0you&#8217;re simply\u00a0letting the\u00a0camera do your processing.\u00a0You&#8217;re simply taking advantage of the color science and expertise that Fuji has\u00a0perfected\u00a0in their 80+ year history.<\/p>\n<p>Add in all of those tools I&#8217;ve been talking about in my recent videos,\u00a0and you actually have a great deal of control\u00a0right in the\u00a0camera.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In many cases, you can actually get as good or better\u00a0results than if you sat in front of your computer doing post processing<\/strong>. Besides, what does that\u00a0really give you,\u00a0except more time at your computer?<\/p>\n<p>Sure, maybe you&#8217;ll be able to rescue a few lost highlights or shadow tones, but does that always make the image better? Maybe rescuing those tones doesn&#8217;t really matter in the overall message of the image. <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/ewoWXAiSvUU\">Not showing everything can actually make your photograph even stronger<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>So,\u00a0whether you&#8217;re a RAW only\u00a0shooter, an\u00a0occasional RAW shooter,\u00a0<a class=\"validating\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/BCEUaHLuoEM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">watch my latest\u00a0lesson and see why I\u00a0think it makes\u00a0sense to embrace the Fuji JPEGs<\/a>.
