This allows them to fill in the rest of the story in their minds and attach their own meaning to your image.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"tve_image_frame\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"tve_image\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"399\" title=\"0906f1ef9d6d4859bc4b7252c8e16f58.jpeg\" src=\"\/\/hostedimages-cdn.aweber-static.com\/NTc5Njc5\/optimized\/0906f1ef9d6d4859bc4b7252c8e16f58.jpeg\"\/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Nothing helps accentuate that abbreviation aspect in photography than by using shadows. Shadows insinuate shape, form, texture and style to your subject matter and they add a great deal of flavor to to your shots.<\/p>\n<p>Shadows are so effective in photography, because they hide things. By not revealing every single element in your frame, you allow your viewer to WONDER and IMAGINE. As I pointed out in a previous lesson, whenever you actively engage your viewer, you go a long way towards creating a more compelling image.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"tve_image_frame\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"tve_image\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"402\" title=\"3ffce688fbee4adfa73e06e7657ee5ea.jpeg\" src=\"\/\/hostedimages-cdn.aweber-static.com\/NTc5Njc5\/optimized\/3ffce688fbee4adfa73e06e7657ee5ea.jpeg\"\/><\/span><span class=\"tve_image_frame\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"tve_image\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"396\" title=\"46c688b645294258aae13c81e99edd46.jpeg\" src=\"\/\/hostedimages-cdn.aweber-static.com\/NTc5Njc5\/optimized\/46c688b645294258aae13c81e99edd46.jpeg\"\/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In addition, when you place bright colors against a dark background, the brain perceives those colors to be more saturated than if they\u2019re set against a bright background. Simply using shadows in your scene helps you create more bold imagery.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"tve_image_frame\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"tve_image wp-image-18294\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"467\" title=\"taurus-07230a\" data-id=\"18294\" src=\"\/\/danbaileyphoto.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/TAURUS-07230A.jpg\" srcset=\"https:\/\/danbaileyphoto.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/TAURUS-07230A.jpg 700w, https:\/\/danbaileyphoto.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/TAURUS-07230A-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/danbaileyphoto.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/TAURUS-07230A-600x400.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Creative Challenge #4<\/h2>\n<ul class=\"tcb-styled-list\">\n<li class=\"thrv-styled-list-item\" data-css=\"tve-u-1620ca82f2e\">check<span class=\"thrv-advanced-inline-text tve_editable tcb-styled-list-icon-text tcb-no-delete\">Shadows are your best friend in photography, so I encourage you to make heavy use of them in your photography.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"thrv-styled-list-item\">check<span class=\"thrv-advanced-inline-text tve_editable tcb-styled-list-icon-text tcb-no-delete\">Look for sun-lit subjects, or parts of subjects that sit in front of areas that aren\u2019t lit by the sun.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"thrv-styled-list-item\">check<span class=\"thrv-advanced-inline-text tve_editable tcb-styled-list-icon-text tcb-no-delete\">Make sure you expose for the brightest subject matter so your darker areas drop to black.
