As a 80s high school guitar player who grew up watching MTV, I suppose it was inevitable that I would eventually grow up get older and make my own music videos. Today I released a music video for for “Can’t Look Past Ourselves,” which is the lead-off track on my album, “Up Higher.”
It’s incredibly rewarding to combine my two passions in life with this kind of creative outlet. Shooting and editing video has been a learning experience for me during the past couple of years, and I’m amazed at how accessible it is to do this kind of project.
The music for “Can’t Look Past Ourselves” was produced using Apple’s Logic Pro X. I used a number of sounds and plugins by IK Multimedia, including Amplitube 5, Syntronik and MODO DRUM, and T-Racks 5 mixing and mastering plugins. I played the guitar solo on my trusty Fender Stratocaster.
The song is a commentary on the relevant challenges that we always seem to face in our society, in our eternal quest to be better people and move ourselves forward.
I hope you enjoy the video. Please leave a comment, and let me know what you think! You can stream and purchase the album on all of the streaming and music sites.
I also posted a vertical version on my Instagram TV channel. You can watch all of my music videos here, including the very first music video I made, which was for the song Dr. Fauci Say.
